CATARACTS, “BLUE EYE” IN DOGS AND CATS, “MOON BLINDNESS “ IN HORSES.

Definition: cataracts as defined by Dorland’s Medical Dictionary is, “ an opacity of the crystalline eye lens, or of its capsule.” It may take on various forms and densities of the lens as seen thro the pupil of the eye, from small white dots appearing on the lens, to brown streaks, or lightening –like crackling, or thick chalky white deposits completely filling the inside of the pupil (which is the entire lens behind the pupil). This is to be distinguished from opacity of the cornea, which shows up as a thickened white film over the outside surface of the clear part of the eye. The affect on the vision from both conditions depends on position and size of the opacities. We will consider only lens cataracts here.

Causes of Cataracts occur both.

1. In the physical plane
2. And the electromagnetic energy plane of the body.

PHYSICAL

Without going into intricate biophysiological changes, let it suffice to say cataracts develop when the lens capsule is altered or torn. This creates increased imbibing of liquid by a leaking mechanism within the capsule. The capsule protects the main lens body. The normal proteins within the lens capsule are weakly antigenic to the body, when these leak out they can produce an inflammatory process within the eye. With age the soluble protein contents decrease and the insoluble proteins increase causing an osmotic pressure that pulls water within the structure.

Opacity is caused by light rays penetrating the increased fluid and insoluble protein colloidal solution and/or chalky deposits that bend the light rays. Some are due to faulty genes with inherited cataracts (congenital cataracts) that appear later in life, or with aging, trauma, etc. but the vast majority of cataracts can occur in relatively young to middle aged animals. In dogs this generally occurs in ages 2-8 years of age.

Consequences of cataract development are decreased sight, if adhesions form from inflammation of lens to the iris of the eyes to block drainage of fluid within the posterior chamber; glaucoma can be a direct result. Iridocyclitis or Uveitis can also occur. This is more frequent in horses. Both latter two conditions are extremely painful and require extensive steroidal, antibiotic, and pupil dilating drugs to be administered and are disappointing in results. Blindness with or without removal of the eye is frequent sequelae.

What causes this?

1. Diabetes mellitus, which causes an increased osmotic pressure in the blood vessels going to the lens due to increased numbers of the large molecules of blood sugar. This produces an increased extra cellular fluid. These cataracts are generally bilateral, complete and mature (very dense opacities). There are alarming increased frequencies of D. mellitus in dogs today. A lot has to do with feeding commercial diets. The increased ratio of cereals (carbohydrates) to proteins in these diets, particularly the kibbled form, which requires high percentage of cereals to produce the “kibbling affect” is foreign to the carnivore’s evolutionary development of his digestive system which requires 60% protein to only 20% Carbs, thus putting a great strain on an already overburdened pancreas. The Beta acinar cells within the pancreas make insulin, the hormone that controls blood sugar.

2. Other causes of cataracts are hyper parathyroidism, and hypocalcemia. These last two conditions, I have found always develop from chronic toxicity with heavy metals Aluminum and Mercury.

ELECTROMAGNETIC ENERGY FIELDS OF ORGAN SYSTEMS

There is an electromagnetic energy field (EMF) to every organ, which can be detected by EAV (Electroacupuncture According to Voll). This is a system that can measure the milliamps of energy output from specific acupuncture points on the fingers and toes of the body related to each organ system. One can also photograph this EMF or Life Force (called “Chi” by the Chinese practicioners of acupuncture.) There are energy link relationships from one physical structure to another in the body; for example, the lens of the eye is linked energetically, to the organ stomach, and the cornea to the liver. Therefore any thing that weakens the stomach or liver will cause weaknesses in the lens of the eye and to the cornea.

I have found the most common cataracts unrelated to aging or genetics, are related to impaired energy flows to the stomach. These energy impairments can either be higher than normal (= inflammations in the stomach which is the most frequent findings) or lower than normal (= degeneration of the stomach). Testing with homeopathic remedies made from chemicals, antibiotics, cortisones, vaccinations, pesticides, heavy metals etc.

I have been able to determine that a lot of the chemical pollutants in the food and water consumed by the animals have caused the changes in the stomach and lens readings from normal EAV energy values. The heavy metals aluminum, cadmium, lead and mercury, as well as pesticides, some oral antibiotics, cortisones (prednisone, prednisilone etc.), commercial diets containing the food preservative Ethoxyquin, and aniline food dyes have been at fault. Early detoxification of these toxic chemicals and drugs with the specific nosodes has reversed immature cataract formation in the EAV cases that I treated in my clinical practice.

There is another energy flow relationship that can influence cataract formation: The liver to the stomach, spleen and pancreas. So you see it all boils down to health of the digestive system. If you put toxic chemicals in, you get toxic reactions out.

PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF REVERSIBLE CATARACTS

Since the health of the digestive system influences the health of the eye, it behooves us to keep the digestive organs (liver, spleen, pancreas, stomach, small intestine and colon) free of any toxic substances.

1. Feed only a home made detoxed diet to your animal. If you don’t change anything else, please do this one thing.

For horses, avoid alfalfa (which concentrates aluminum) and feed grass hay or pasture. Treat all hay and all cereals, (which also concentrate aluminum) on my Blue-Green Detox papers before feeding.
